Nepal’s New WASH Report Reveals Major Water and Sanitation Investment Gaps
On 31 October, Nepal’s National Statistics Office released the 2026 WASH report covering all 753 local government units. The report found that only 47.5% of the population has access to safely managed drinking water and 39.9% to safely managed sanitation, while E. coli was detected in 61.2% of household drinking-water samples. The findings highlight demand for water-quality monitoring, sanitation infrastructure and targeted development investment, although no specific project contract value was announced. Water utilities, development organisations and environmental consultants can explore monitoring and data-management opportunities. HPC can support environmental analytics and infrastructure planning; contact HPC for a quotation based on your project scope.
